Youth Australia's music industry will be making plenty of noise in May at Music Business Adelaide. The three-day event provides South Australian bands with the opportunity to do business with some of Australia's most influential music industry movers and shakers.
Music Business Adelaide was launched on 18 March by South Australian rock music legend Doc Neeson, lead singer of the quintessential Australian band - The Angels. He was joined by South Australia's Arts Minister, The Hon Diana Ladlaw.
The music industry trade fair will showcase some of Australia's best new artists, facilitate formal and casual business meetings, provide music industry education through seminars and by developing songwriting skills.
'This is an opportunity of a lifetime for local artists - the reality is that unless we can get national recognition (from Adelaide) we will be forced to look elsewhere,' says Adelaide band manager, Avalon Sperring.
The program for Music Business Adelaide, which will run 14-16 May, includes:
Coordinator, Mr Warwick Cheatle says 'Australia has needed an industry event of this type for years. Music Business Adelaide is different to other music performance based events.
'It's designed to proactively assist the local music industry to make legitimate contacts - much more than just talk or a stage for international artists - there are immediate positive effects for the South Australian music industry.'
This initiative was made possible through the Commonwealth Government's $10 million contemporary music development package.
