- Playing Australia provides funding for performing arts touring within Australia.

Chinchilla Melon Festival
Chinchilla produces 25 per cent of Australia's melon crop and the Chinchilla Melon Festival is designed to celebrate the unique agriculture and community of this region of South East Queensland.
Festivals Australia funding of $10 000 will go towards the Melon Festival Family Concert to be held at the Chinchilla Melon Festival.
Workshops will be conducted by successful country musician Adam Brand and the Young Stars of the Country with the Chinchilla community and students and teachers from surrounding schools. Adam Brand will also perform at the festival.
Australian-Italian Festival
Also in Queensland-with $16 396 from Festivals Australia-the Australian-Italian Festival in Ingham will host the Brisbane-based Giuseppe Verdi Choir, which will be presenting three performances as well as community workshops.
In 1958, the Giuseppe Verdi Choral Society was formed in Brisbane, without big intentions, but with the desire to continue to celebrate Italian culture through song. More than 40 years on, the choir is still performing on many occasions of celebration.
A choir of this calibre and size is rarely able to travel to North Queensland due to the costs involved.
The Giuseppe Verdi Choir has performed and inspired Italian communities around the country, but especially in their home state of Queensland.
The Australian-Italian Festival celebrates the unique contribution made by the Italian community to Queensland and Australian culture.
Screaming Cow Youth Arts Festival
Albany, Western Australia (WA) is home to the Screaming Cow Youth Arts Festival, which is a highlight of WA's Great Southern Region cultural calendar.
Through Festivals Australia, Southern Edge Arts will receive funding of $24 084 for a unique Caravan Park project to be part of the 2001 Festival.
Screaming Cow is a festival for, and by, young people providing a spectrum of events to engage young people and showcase the creativity of young people.
WA community artist Dwayne Peppin will live in the Mt Melville caravan park for four weeks leading up to the festival, collaborating with young people to transform five caravans into surreal installations for a fantastic caravan treasure hunt.
The caravan is an Australian icon of adventure, journey, identity and community. A series of junk sculptures will be created, incorporating electric and laser light to be part of the parade on the final night of revelry.
Novelist, Liane Shavian, is also going to work with emerging writers to create a story to link the vans. Denmark Arts Council will install their digital film studio and work with young people to make short films for screening.
Perth sound and lighting designer and engineer, Andrew Newnham, will create a soundtrack of music from sound-bites collected during the festival week and choir conductor Teresa Hughes will develop a repertoire of songs to be performed live with the soundtrack.
Mildura Arts Festival
The Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival is one of Australia's leading regional arts festivals. It was established in 1994 by a group of dedicated art lovers and local business people.
The dance and movement performance group, Co-motion, incorporating the improvisation duo, Two Suits, will be artists-in-residence for a week as the major dance and physical theatre component of this March 2001 festival.
The group will present dance improvisation and dance awareness workshops, deliver a professional development and skills enhancement program for local dance teachers, and perform as guest artists in a dance program-celebrating and showcasing the local dance community.
