Peak Penetration of Online Government services
Government as a provider of online services is a significant influence in facilitating a greater intensive use of the Internet. Electronic Service Delivery has become a key theme in government policy in most developed countries. The chart on this page and the E-Government rankings page present data on the use of online government services and on the ranking of government web sites. Web sites are ranked in terms of the information provided to online consumers to facilitate or enable their online interaction with government. For the first indicator "Peak penetration of online government services", data shows that at peak times Australia performed exceptional well placing 3rd in terms of the proportion of the adult home Internet population accessing government services online. For Australia, 25% of the adults accessing the Internet at home had reported accessing a government service online (mainly seeking taxation information). Germany and Norway had higher penetration levels during peak periods (32% and 30% respectively).
