Commercial Radio Blackspots Program - First round funding

The first round of funding under the Commercial Radio Blackspots Program, was announced by the then Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Richard Alston, on 9 May 2003. Blackspots funding of $1.05m is being provided for new or improved commercial radio services for communities in regional and remote Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. The funding will be provided to assist commercial radio broadcasters with costs related to equipment, installation, site establishment and licence fees.

Retransmission facilities will be established for commercial radio services in 36 identified Blackspot communities under the first round of the $5 million program. The projects are:

3. Funding for Rebel Radio Network Pty Ltd also includes an amount of $182,400 for the provision of a satellite uplink.
