Panel Session 1—How ICT should be represented
Panelists will discuss the negative image of the ICT profession and the implications for attracting and retaining females in information technology education courses and in the ICT profession. More specifically, the panel session will look at what the image of an ICT professional should be and at initiatives that could be considered in changing the perception of ICT.

Panel Session 2—How to ensure ICT education and curricula are attractive to females and address Australia’s ICT needs
Panellists will examine the impact of education and curricula on attracting and retaining students in ICT. They will look at such issues as how could ICT be better taught at school, VET and university level and how links between the ICT industry and education sectors could be fostered. Another area for consideration is how to increase awareness of initiatives that seek to improve the teaching of ICT.

Panel Session 3—Lesson and experiences of other professions
Panellists will outline the lessons, experiences and initiatives of other professions in attracting greater female participation. They will discuss how these could be applicable to ICT professions.

Panel Session 4—Comments by associations
Association representative panellists will present their organisations’ views on the importance of increasing the participation of women and Generation Y in the ICT professions
