Broad based National Activities

  • Internet Industry Association (IIA) Get Net Safe Initiative—members of the IIA will be promoting free trial security software to home users and small businesses.
  • eBay is developing a web page promoting the Week and the importance of safe online transactions. This webpage will be promoted through a variety of marketing and communication channels.
  • Telstra is placing a link on the Telstra Bigpond homepage and promoting the Initiative through their online newsletter.
  • The members of Abacus Australian Mutuals, representing Australia 's credit unions and building societies, are placing links to the staysmartonline message on their internet and distributing hard copy materials throughout all their branches in Australia.
  • Symantec have conducted a National e-Security Awareness Survey and will release the results during the Week. They are also exploring other media opportunities to promote the messages of the Week.
  • McAfee will be speaking with regional radio to promote E-Security Awareness Week.
  • McAfee are partnering with Dell to promote E-Security Awareness Week in at Dell Kiosks in Sydney metropolitan area.
  • Sophos will be conducting a web poll with the results being released during the Week.
  • AusCERT will be promoting the Week to its membership during the Week and encourage members to run in-house e-security awareness campaigns.
  • Australian Bankers' Association's will encourage consumers to visit the Security and Fraud Prevention section on its website where fact sheets can be accessed and a link will be made to the stay safe online website from the ABA homepage.
  • A number of Community Technology Centres will be holding Internet security and virus workshops during the Week.
