The Australia-Korea-New Zealand Broadband Summit was a venue for business and research interests to discuss the direction that technology and the markets are moving. It provided an opportunity to meet and develop business relations or collaborative opportunities with firms and institutions in countries that may have complementary business interests and marketing chains.
Government ministers from Australia (the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan), Korea (the Minister of Information and Communication, Mr Rho Jun-hyong) and New Zealand (the Minister for Communications, the Hon David Cunliffe) supported the event, noting the potential for mutual benefit in developing trading activities in the information and communications technology sector.
The summit covered a range of topics, including rich media digital content and creative industries, home/business/car networking (telematics), online games, regional broadband and research and development activities.
