Table of Contents

Purpose of the Paper

This discussion paper has been prepared by the National Office for the Information Economy (NOIE) for the second meeting of the Broadband Advisory Group (BAG) to provide a basis for discussion of the issues involved in the use of broadband in health. The Commonwealth Government announced the establishment of the Broadband Advisory Group in February 2002 to provide high level advice on the development of broadband in Australia. At its initial meeting on 29 April 2002, the BAG agreed that the sectors of greatest interest to government from the perspective of productivity benefits are health, education, and small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
