Call for proposals and Guidelines

On 20 September 2007, the Expert Taskforce called for interested parties to submit proposals for the roll-out, on a commercial basis, of new open access high speed broadband network infrastructure and services in capital cities and major regional centres in accordance with its Guidelines for High Speed Broadband Network Infrastructure Proposals. The Australian Government has indicated that it will, as necessary, introduce legislation into Parliament to facilitate the roll-out of this infrastructure and these services.

Clarification of the Guidelines

Potential proponents that have registered in accordance with paragraph 6.1 of the Guidelines may seek clarification of the Guidelines. All requests for clarification by registered potential proponents should be in writing to the Expert Taskforce Secretariat. Requests for clarifications, along with the Expert Taskforce’s response, may be published on the Expert Taskforce’s website.

Lodging proposals

Proponents should have regard to the Guidelines in preparing and lodging proposal. Proposals may be lodged from 9am, Thursday, 7 February 2008 (Canberra time). The closing date for proposals is 5 pm, 14 February 2008 (Canberra time). Proposals lodged after the closing date will not be accepted by the Expert Taskforce. Consultation on proposals

As part of its process, the Expert Taskforce will be publishing and seeking public comments on proposals it receives. Proposals are scheduled to be posted here on Thursday, 21 February 2008. Proponents may be asked to present their proposals at a public forum after this date. Further details of the proposed forum will be provided in due course. Public comments on proposals should be submitted by Thursday, 17 April 2008.
