Networking Australia's Future - Appendix F
The Broadband Services Expert Group commissioned a number of consultancies to examine potential demand for applications of a broadband network. The consultants were required to look at the range of services that might be offered on the network, which of these services are likely to be particularly popular, and the reasons people might use electronic services rather than more traditional forms of communication and information exchange.
The sectors studied, and the consultant for each sector, were as follows:
- project management and government/public information - Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
- residential services - Arthur D Little, Inc
- telecommuting - The Communication Centre, QUT
- construction and engineering - CSIRO
- manufacturing - ConsulPlan
- business services - Michael Kassler and Associates
- education - PICA Pty Ltd
- health - The Communication Centre, QUT
While the views expressed in the studies are not necessarily those of the Expert Group, we commend the studies to people interested in learning more about the range of broadband services and potential demand for them.
The consultants' reports will be available as one volume through AGPS bookshops - Demand for Broadband Services: Consultancy Reports prepared for the Broadband Services Expert Group.
